HARRISBURG, Pa. (Jan. 15) – Anglers, boaters and others interested in the future of the Susquehanna River are encouraged to join Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) Executive Director John Arway in a community discussion on Monday, Jan. 20, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. in the Harrisburg offices of WITF TV (www.witf.org).

Director Arway will be among a panel of experts discussing issues affecting the Susquehanna River watershed. Topics will range from curbing pollution and protecting the Chesapeake Bay to promoting business, tourism, and recreation.

“The Susquehanna River has been a friend and great company for many of us who have enjoyed the river over the years,” said Arway. “Whether it is fishing, boating, floating or just sitting on the river bank watching the river flow by, the mighty Susquehanna really is part of our Commonwealth’s heritage.

“But right now our friend - the river - is in trouble and needs your help,” he added. “Please join us for this community discussion as we work together to repair the river so that it can once again support a healthy and abundant population of smallmouth bass.”

Other panel speakers will include Andrew Dehoff, Executive Director of the Susquehanna River Basin Commission; Don McNutt, District Administrator for the Lancaster County Conservation District; Alexandra Chiaruttini, an environmental attorney with the York law firm Stock and Leader; and Cindy Dunn, President and CEO of PennFuture.

The community discussion will be held at the WITF Public Media Center in Harrisburg. Click here for directions. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Click here to sign up.

For those who can’t make it to Harrisburg, the event will be live-streamed online at www.witf.org.
