Fish & Boat Commission to Hold Quarterly Meeting July 16-17

HARRISBURG, Pa. – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will hold its quarterly business meeting on July 16-17 at its Harrisburg headquarters, located at 1601 Elmerton Avenue, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Commission committees will meet beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, July 16, and again at 8:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17. Formal consideration of the agenda by the full Commission will begin at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 17. All committee meetings and the formal meeting are open to the public.

In conjunction with the meeting, the PFBC’s Outreach and Education staff will host two events Monday evening at Little Buffalo State Park (Newport, Pa.)  – an Amphibian and Reptile Program and a Family Paddling Program.

  • Amphibian and Reptile Program - Learn about these fascinating creatures as you rotate through four stations where PFBC biologists will give brief presentations with live specimens. Other non-game species will also be on display. As an added bonus, each person who attends this FREE event will receive a free copy of PFBC’s Pennsylvania Amphibians and Reptiles book (a $10 value). The program will be held on Monday evening, July 16, at the park’s East Day Use Area. Pre-registration is required and will be accepted on the PFBC website until July 11.   • Family Paddling Program - The program will be held on Monday evening, July 16, at the Main Boat Launch with two sessions offered. Each session includes a brief on-land introduction to regulations, equipment, safety and paddling skills, followed by time on the water to practice skills. All canoes, kayaks, paddles, life jackets and safety equipment will be provided. Participants should wear clothes that can get wet. Pre-registration is required and will be accepted on the PFBC website until July 11. Registration attendance numbers are limited.
