| Dauphin County, PA, 1/15/07--The
Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) will hold its winter quarterly meeting January 28-29 at agency
headquarters, 1601 Elmerton Avenue, in Harrisburg.
Commission committees will meet beginning at approximately
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, January 28, and again at 8:30 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, January 29. The
full Commission will meet for formal consideration of the agenda beginning at 1 p.m. on Tuesday. All
committee meetings and the review of the agenda are open to the public and attendance is encouraged.
Among the
items to be considered at the meeting are amendments to tournament fishing regulations that propose
the prohibition of bass fishing tournaments on the West Branch, North Branch and main stem of the Susquehanna
River that currently permit the killing of black bass.
Amendments to boating safety education certificates,
including the addition of detailed criteria for courses of instruction in boating safety education,
will also be considered for final rulemakings. This would include simplifying the definition of a boating
safety education certificate and authorizing the Executive Director with the power to publish which boating courses
may be approved for the purposes of the mandatory education act.
Several grants on the topics of watershed enhancement
and fish passage and habitat restoration will also be discussed at the Commission meeting.
A complete
agenda for the meeting and schedule of events can be found on the Agendas & Minutes section of the Commission’s
