| Harrisburg, PA – The
Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is alerting boaters that the Harvey’s Lake access area in Luzerne
County will be closed July 8 and 9 while contractors reconstruct the entrance and pave the parking lot.
The
access area will reopen on Thursday, July 10.
This is the final step of improving the access area. Last
month, PFBC employees removed the existing deteriorated concrete launch ramps and replaced them with
new ones.
“We recognize
this is going to be a minor inconvenience for the boaters,” said John Sinclair, PFBC Chief of Construction and
Maintenance. “But
they’ll be able to use the access area during the busy July 4 holiday weekend and again the following weekend.”
As
the Independence Day weekend begins, the PFBC urges boaters to wear their life jackets. In the event
of an accident, wearing a life jacket will keep individuals on the surface, giving them a better chance
of rescue and survival.
Harvey’s
Lake is located northwest of Wilkes-Barre off PA Route 415.
The mission of the Fish and Boat Commission
is to protect, conserve, and enhance the Commonwealth’s aquatic resources and provide fishing and boating opportunities.
