Lukas Diehl, caught and released what very well could have been the new state record chain pickerel last week.  The fish was weighed on an unofficial scale he had with him while on the ice.  It weighed 9 lbs. and was 33 inches long.  This would have beat the current state record that stands at 8 lbs., 14 oz. Lukas is an avid fisherman and always practices catch and release; however, after releasing it he went home to research the state record list and realized he might have released the new record.

Jeff measured the girth at 19.875 inches. Jeff mentioned that he has caught numerous trophy fish on past fishing trips but he believes this is his personal best.
