Pictured is a red-breasted piranha, pulled from the Mahantango Creek, near Si-nora campground. It was the only Piranha caught and most likely the result of someone releasing the fish once held as a pet. It is illegal to introduce nonnative species to Pennsylvania waters. Fortunately, our cold winters will spell the end for most tropical fish such as this Piranha.

| On June 20, 2012, the Fish and Boat Commission and DCNR along with Cub and Boy Scouts built and placed porcupine cribs into Raccoon Lake. Members of Boy Scout Troop 425 and Webelos from Cub Scout Pack 426 participated as part of a habitat project. The scouts did a great job and made easy work of the 10 porcupine cribs. It was a team effort and the kids learned valuable teambuilding skills working well with one another while they also learned about fish habitat and the fish food chain. Overall, the project was a great success and everyone had an enjoyable afternoon. |
