Stephen Manukas, of Cranberry Township, took his children, Christopher (9 years old,) and Michelle (11 years old) flathead fishing on the Ohio River on August 26, 2011.  The fishing was fast and furious once it got dark.  They fished for about 2 hours and caught about 10 fish.  Christopher landed a 16-pound flathead by himself.  Neither of them wanted to reel in the larger fish, so Stephen landed the two larger ones.

Stephen Manukas caught this 31-pound, 40-inch flathead catfish on August 5, 2011 while night fishing on the Ohio River downriver from Monaca.  Stephen was using live bluegills and also caught a 20-pound flathead catfish and three smaller fish weighing 7 to 10 pounds.

Stephen, an avid catfish angler, reports that flathead fishing has been very slow the past two years so it was “nice to have some fish pulling on the line.”
