returned to Stevens Lake (April
panfish report) to survey
the largemouth bass population by night electrofishing on the evening of May 14, 2008. Catch per unit effort
values (CPUE) indicated that the bass population was in very good shape. Total bass CPUE was 73/hour, CPUE
of bass > 12
inches was 66/hour, and CPUE of bass > 15 inches was 7/hour. The bass ranged from
5 to 17 inches long (Figure 1).
Stevens Lake is managed under Big Bass Regulations. All bass CPUE values at Stevens Lake in 2008 exceeded objectives for this special regulation program. Figure 1. Length-frequency distribution of largemouth bass captured by night electrofishing at Stevens Lake on May 14, 2008.
