| Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission biologists recently completed our annual assessment of walleye reproduction in the North Branch Susquehanna River. This years catch rate of young-of-the-year walleye was 14 per hour, which was well below the 12 year average of 61 per hour. Nevertheless, strong year classes produced in 1999 and 2001 continue to provide quality fishing for large walleye, and a strong year class produced in 2005 should be reaching legal size in 2007 and 2008.
We also saw good numbers of smallmouth bass and northern pike during this work.
