| Pymatuning Lake was sampled by Fisheries Management personnel from April 5 to April 14, 2005. Ice
covered the lake late into March, cutting short our sampling effort this spring. Trapnets were set at 37
sites for a total of 864.75 hours of trapnet effort. A total of 7,724 fish were sampled representing 18
species of fish.
Walleye ranged in size from 8.7 inches to 27.4 inches with a total of 1059 walleye caught. Legal fish made up over 96 % of the catch with 66% of the fish over 18 inches and 26% of the walleye over 20 inches.
Muskellunge catch rates were impressive, 71 musky were caught, with 33% of the fish over 40 inches and 7% over 46 inches.
A total of 687 black crappie were caught ranging is size from 2 inches to over 12.5 inches. Most of the crappies were in the 8 to 10.5 in size range. Anglers are also reporting good catches of nice size crappie. Quality size channel catfish were also caught with fish up to 30.5 inches long and many over 20 inches.
