| The arrival of hot humid weather is no reason to put that trout tackle in the closet. Recent stream
surveys over the past several weeks by Area 4 Fisheries Management staff have found good numbers of wild
brook trout in a number of small streams in State Game Lands 187 (Luzerne County) and State Game Lands
12 & 36 (Bradford County). The majority have been brook trout with the largest individuals up to 8
inches. In addition to brook trout a few brown trout were also collected.
Stream conditions are currently low and clear with water temperatures in the low 50’s to mid 60’s. In addition to the small stream surveys, all of Schrader Creek (Bradford County) was evaluated. The Delayed Harvest area on the Schrader was sampled on June 23rd but no trout were found within the special regulation area. Anglers planning to fish Schrader Creek should concentrate their efforts upstream from Laquin where there were a few stocked fish as well as some wild brook trout or try one of the many tributaries.
