Lake Arthur is a 3,200 lake located within Moraine State Park in Butler County. Area one personnel conducted a fish population survey from April 20 to May 5, 2004. Three Pennsylvania style trapnets were used at 19 different location for a total of 670.25 hours of effort. A total of 1,066 fish were sampled representing 16 species.
The muskellunge catch was impressive both in terms of the total number caught, 97 and size of the fish, with 11 musky over 40 inches in length and the largest musky over 51 inches in length. A total of 227 channel catfish were caught ranging in size form 15 inches to over 30 inches with most of the cats in the 18 to 25 inches size range. Northern pike (9), walleye (29) and striped bass hybrids (48) were also found. Black crappie up to 14 inches were caught along with white crappie, bluegill, and pumpkinseed. Some huge carp were also caught with the largest over 33 inches long.
