Lake Chillisquaque
Lake Chillisquaque is a 165 acre impoundment on the Middle Branch Chillisquaque Creek located 11 miles north of Danville, Montour County. The lake is contained within the Montour Preserve, which is owned by Pennsylvania Power and Light (PP&L). The reservoir serves as a source of emergency cooling water for the PP&L Montour Steam Electric Station. The lake is popular with anglers. PP&L maintains one boat launch with ample parking but boating is restricted to electric motors only.

Lake Chillisquaque is included in the Panfish Enhancement Regulations program with more restrictive size limits and creel limits on black crappie and bluegill. All other species are under regulations for Commonwealth Inland Waters. All fish populations are maintained through natural reproduction.

Fisheries Management crews from Area 3 and Area 4 conducted a joint survey of Lake Chillisquaque during the week of May 12 – 16, 2003. We set 40 trapnets and night electrofished 1.8 miles of shoreline on the evening of May 14, 2003. See Tables 1 and 2 below for the numbers and sizes of fish captured.

Also captured were 290 golden shiners, 21 pumpkinseeds, 16 white suckers, 8 quillback carpsuckers, 5 largemouth bass, 4 rock bass, 4 spottail shiners, 3 bluntnose minnows, 3 common carp, 2 fathead minnows, and 1 green sunfish.
