Crooked Creek Lake
Commission biologists sampled Crooked Creek Lake, Armstrong County in April. The 350-acre lake produced fair numbers of white crappie. The majority were running around the 7 to 8" size range with a good percentage ranging up to the 11 to 12" range. Channel catfish were probably the most impressive fish sampled with various age groups present and numerous quality size individuals sampled.
Other species included tiger muskellunge (40+"), largemouth bass (19.25" - largest), carp, suckers, and brown and yellow bullheads.
Additional sampling will be done later in the spring by night electrofishing specifically to evaluate the black bass populations present.
