BIOLOGIST REPORT
Bridgeport Dam
Commission biologists sampled Bridgeport Dam (Westmoreland/Fayette counties) using six trap net sets and three night electrofishing runs in late May and early June.
Summary: Low numbers of largemouth bass were collected in Bridgeport Dam. A few bass over 15 inches were present in our catch, which included a 21-inch, 4 lb 10 oz fish. White crappies and black crappies were very abundant in Bridgeport Dam, but most of them were between 5 and 7 inches. Bluegills were collected in low numbers and sizes. Carp were abundant, although most carp were less than 15 inches. Numbers and sizes of all fish collected may have been reduced due to warm water temperatures. We may return for sampling at Bridgeport Dam in April 2001 to compare catches to this year.
