Discover just how much fun fishing can be when you do it together
at a PFBC Family Fishing Program. Learn basic fishing skills like knot tying, casting, baiting the hook,
and taking a fish off the hook. You and your family will have the opportunity to fish – no fishing license required.
All equipment provided.
The “catch???” Adults must bring a child and children must bring an adult. You’ll
be learning and fishing together.
Family Fly Fishing Program
Fly-fishing can be a fun way to fish for the first time or it can present a new challenge to a spin- or bait-casting angler.
Discover just how fun fly fishing can be with your family at a PFBC Family Fly Fishing Program. Learn about the basic fundamentals of fly casting and equipment used to fly fish. Instructors will walk you through how to assemble the equipment, demonstrate the frequently used fly fishing knots, and discuss fish behavior and fly selection. Included in the program is information on streamside ethics and wading safety. The best part is that you and your family will have the opportunity to experience fly fishing first hand on the water- no fishing license required and all equipment is provided.

Family Ice Fishing Program
Looking for a great way to connect with your family during the wintertime?
Discover just how much fun the cold weather
can be when you and your family head outside for a PFBC Family Ice Fishing Program. Learn the basic skills of
ice fishing like rigging and using a tip-up, working a jigging rod, selecting bait and lures and using an auger
to bore your fishing hole. Also included in the program is information about basic ice safety and how to determine adequate
ice thickness for fishing. The best part is that you and your family will have the opportunity to experience ice fishing
first hand - no fishing license required and all equipment is provided.

SMART Angler Program
The SMART Angler Program is designed to provide instruction to youth between the ages of 8 and 12 on the types of fish
found in Pennsylvania, fish habitats, safety, equipment, outdoor manners and protecting our water resources. Parents,
guardians, mentors and other family members are encouraged to participate in SMART fishing clinics. Each participant learns
basic fishing skills and gets to put those skills to use! All the participants in the fishing program focus on being “SMART” anglers. |
