Rocco S. Ali

Commissioner AliArmstrong County sportsman Rocco Ali is the District 2 Commissioner for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC).

Commissioner Ali was nominated by Gov. Tom Corbett on Sept. 18 and was confirmed by the Senate on Oct. 15 and was sworn in shortly thereafter. Commissioners serve eight-year terms and are not compensated for their services. Commissioner Ali’s eight-year term expires on Oct. 15, 2020.

Commissioner Ali is a clinical supervisor at NovaCare Outpatient Center in Butler, Pa.  He graduated from Geneva College in Beaver Falls and attended the University of Pittsburgh for his physical therapy degree. He was awarded a Master’s degree in Orthopedics and Neurology from the University of Pittsburgh in 1980.

A life-long outdoor enthusiast, Commissioner Ali spends much of his time hunting, fishing, and promoting youth activities related to the outdoors. He is a life member in the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs and the National Rifle Association. He also is a member of the governor’s Conservation and Natural Resource Advisory Council. In 2007, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs Hall of Fame.

Commissioner Ali is currently the president of Apollo Spring Church Sportsmen’s Club and is very active with the Armstrong County Sportsmen and Conservation League. He has received a number of awards from the Sportsmen and Conservation League, including “Conservationist of the Year” in 2006, and an Appreciation Award in 2003. In 2009, he was presented with the Conservation and Forestry Award by the Armstrong County Conservation District.

Commissioner Ali and his wife Karen reside in North Apollo. They have five children, four grandchildren and a Brittany spaniel named Chance.
