HARRISBURG, Pa. (April 16) – Join the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) on Tuesday, May 6, at Fuller Lake, Cumberland County, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for a trout fishing program geared for families who want to learn fishing skills and enjoy fishing.

“This family fishing program will be a convenient way for families to be introduced to the sport of fishing,” said Carl Richardson, PFBC Education Section Manager. “Through this program, former and new anglers can try fishing at no cost.”

The PFBC is waiving the fishing license requirement during the program for registered participants age 16 and older. The program is open to all ages, including children ages 5 and up. The PFBC is providing equipment, bait and tackle. PFBC staff will be present to teach skills and assist those who fish. Preregistration is required.

This program is designed for families with little or no fishing experience, and provides the chance to have fun fishing together. Families will learn basic fishing skills and have an opportunity to practice those skills while fishing during the program.

In addition, it will help families “gear-up” for the Mentored Youth Day on Saturday, May 10, at 42 waters across the state.

Space is limited and pre-registration is required. There will be no registrations accepted the day of the event. To register or for more information, visit here.

In addition, the PFBC will be hosting Family Fishing Festivals throughout the months of May and June in anticipation of the two Fish-for-Free Days on May 26 (Memorial Day) and July 4.

Visit www.GoneFishingPa.com to learn more about Mentored Youth Fishing Day, or to register for the Family Fishing Festivals.
